Position and geographical features

It is located in northern part, Southwest Fukuoka of Kyushu, and Motoichi is to distance of approximately 40 kilometers from Fukuoka-shi that is metropolis of Kyushu. City limits show long shape to 32.27 kilometers of east and west, north and south 15.99 kilometers and east and west, and, as for the administrative area, 229.96 square kilometers, population are approximately 306,020.
In addition, national highway of five Route 3 others goes to crosspoint of Kyushu Expressway and Oita, Nagasaki Expressway soon in central city in the southern part of prefecture, and it is in strategic point of traffic.
Kyushu's best big river, Chikugo River flows through topography from the northeastern part of city to the western part, and the mountains such as Mt. Mino, Takara mountain, light Hoshiyama range to east and west in the south side along the Chikugo River. From the southeast foot of a mountain, hill country, we are slanted gently generally from the northwest to the western part and continue in flatland of very large alluvial plain formed by the Chikugo River.
Climate belongs to Ariake climatic region of inland model, and there is little snow of big thing, and age change of temperature range of the year and precipitation of temperature is warm, and it shows very distinct four seasons.
